Dealing with negative thoughts

Don't worry if negative thoughts pop up. You don't remove all the salt from the kitchen because you don't want it in your cereal; you just don't use it.

If negative thoughts pop into your head, don’t become upset or fight against them. This is a bit like fighting for peace!

Simply allow them to be there, as you do with adverts or unnecessary ingredients in the kitchen. (As you read above, just because you see the salt you are not forced to pick it up and add it to your cereal.)

Rather than fighting negative thoughts, just allow them to be there and repeat positive ones. Smile at the negative thoughts, accept them and they will affect you less and less.
