Take control of your thoughts

'Bad thoughts lead to bad swings'

Annika Sorenstam's coach, Pia Nilsson, says:

"Bad swings lead to bad shots, but it's often bad thoughts that lead to bad swings"

...and when we analyse our game this is often true.



Make your mind a fortress!

This is a quick exercise to help you develop focus, so your mind will only focus on what you command it to focus on. Either you control your mind, or it controls you.

1. Be aware that you have been focusing on unhelpful thoughts.

2. Realise that you can replace them just as easily as you allowed them in.

If your mind wanders, smile and put your focus back on what you want.

Start with 10 seconds and build up to 1 minute (long enough for a golf shot).
